River steamer pendant in a steampunk climate

When we were starting to create miniature sculptures, we were willingly refering to the Steampunk style, which creates an alternative vision of nineteenth century history fueled by fantastic steam machines. This original pendant with a side-wheel steamer is a kind of sentimental return to this period. What's interesting, this piece was not made to order, but from my own fantasy and need.

The miniature is hand made from pieces of metal and watch parts. Small internal dimensions of the medallion setting forced interesting tricks with perspective and non-obvious manipulations with the three-dimensionality of the ship's model. A riveted hull, a decorative prow guard, handrails with a lifebuoy, tiled windows and deckhouses with interesting structure, a chimney and air intake for machines and finally a spatial propulsion wheel.

All this is captured with a self-made medallion setting stylized as a ship's porthole.
