A Comet - from Latin "cometes" comes originally from Greek and means long-haired star. These small celestial bodies made mostly of dust and ice, are located on the outskirts of the Solar System in the so-called Oort Cloud. Sometimes thrown out of their stationary orbits, they approach the star. Because of increasing temperature, speed and the densifying solar wind, they sublimate, emiting two phenomenal streams of ionized, glowing dust and gas behind them, sometimes even for as much as 250,000 kilometers, creating the so-called coma.
The composition of the mechanical watch parts in this beautiful artistic ring shows the early stage of the formation of a gas sphere and a comet's head taking on a glow - the object just starts to gain speed in its murderous but spectacular journey towards the star. And the delicate, slender lines of the sterling silver ring wrap around the bezel and the finger like lines of force of a magnetic field.
